Way back when, "organised crime" paid serious laundered bucks to temporance groups supporting prohibition, hoping that the Volstead act would be passed, which eventually happened. That insured Al Capone & co. the incentive to supply booze to the still thirsty masses & corner the market. Money well spent in the eyes of the mob.

Next they'll try that with tobacco. Good luck with that. I wonder how much mob money is behind anti smoking campaigns??
