Your membership in the religion is defined by your acceptance of its beliefs.Asking you why you belong to the religion is tantamount to asking you why you think its claims are true— except that it accounts for the possibility, however remote, that you might believe the religion is entirely false but attempt to fit in for unrelated reasons. If I were to invite you out for a bacon cheeseburger on Saturday afternoon, you would almost certainly decline. Why is that? He appears to believe in Judaism. But one can be a agnostic Jewish or an agnostic Christian. It can be cultural. Ethnic. Something like that. One time I was in Queens. I took the stairs because I want to keep my bf% in the 14-17% range. An immigrant Jewish neighbor said, "You are Jew"? She thought I was observing Sabbath. |
