It's likely Bob's ancestors came here before the 1924 immigration act, when immigration was virtually unlimited. Even if you consider the Chinese Exclusion Act, there was no limit to the number of immigrants, so it's not like more Chinese would prevent other immigrants from coming.2. There is no evidence that Bob's grandparents wouldn't have gotten a mortgage anyway. 3. There's no evidence that Bob's father wouldn't have gotten a job anyway. 4. Given 2-3, Bob's grandparents didn't necessarily have the money due to racism. 5. Assuming no racism, they might have both gotten off with a warning. |
