How can you say it's disgusting? It's an inspirational story for black kids who are so often told they CAN'T accomplish certain things. That's the whole point. People making a big deal out of the fact that he's "Black", and this happened actually show the opposite, as in "Amazing that a Black kid could even do this". That's a terrible message to send. If you look, it's actually people making a big deal out of the fact that he's Black that are sending the message that "Blacks can't normally accomplish certain things". That's terrible. I don't hear any black people say they are insulted by this story. I did NOT SAY that Black people should be insulted by the story, but instead the hype that is being made because he's BLACK and this happened, as in "it's not something Blacks can normally accomplish". Again, a TERRIBLE message to send. Fox News was the weirdest. They not only did not mention the kid's race in their website's article, the failed to show his photo as well! And why should it not be a KID that did this? Why should it be mentioned that it's a "Black" kid or a "white" kid? While there's nothing wrong with showing his photo, why do YOU think they (or any news outlet) should even mention he's "Black"? Because otherwise it's just assumed he's white? Again, terrible. |
