I'm just not sure if there is the correlation that Kevin is saying. It doesn't seem to be working in other areas of the country such as California, Texas, Arizona, or parts of the south.The reason upstate is losing population is because of the fact that upstate New York is part of the "rust belt" of industrial towns that built up during the industrial revolution and the WWII era but as the US has lost industry, these places have lost jobs, and as such people are moving to places with jobs. Albany has done a good job in transforming itself into the "new economy" versus Buffalo, Rochester, and other places upstate. |
