Unfortunately, many people no longer believe in the First Amendment.A different issue from the main thrust of this thread, but I've learned to my displeasure that almost NO ONE believes in the First Amendment, except that it means "it protects MY right and those I agree with to free speech; everyone else I'm not so sure." They don't say it in so many words, but it works out that way. I can't even accuse them of hypocrisy; they don't really seem to see the contradiction. |
