Overnights, WU would actually shut down paths into NYC, and dump inbounds to a Queens office until 5AM when they'd start getting refed back in. We'd actually pull the plugs out of the jackfields for circuit testing, cleaning and maintenance.At WU, inbound transmissions would be cut to paper tape, dropped into wastebaskets and held ready to be fed back into paper readers in the morning for retransmission. It was an amusing place to work. :) |
