The very depravity of it, and her attitude after the fact, suggests that she might actually be criminally insane, in the classic sense.I don't think she's insane. However as awful as the murder was, it was still a single act. She also has no priors. The death penalty requires aggravating circumstances. I don't see any. I see some mitigating ones such as her history as a victim of abuse. Let her rot for life I say. There are worse people than her who should be on death row and are not. One of the two perpetrators of the Oklahoma City bombing (168 completely innocent people dead) and the older perp of the serial killing spree in the DC area, if you count that as terrorism. There was also that Pakistani guy who shot up CIA HQs in the 90's. |
