I do not pretend to be as knowledgable of the revised plan as perhaps I should be, but the glass and steel structure (Sept 2005) seems on the face a thoughtful and practical design and fitting tribute. The WTC complex was a center of commerce and transport, as it should be once again - you get knocked down, you get back up. I appreciate the architectural constraints with respect to space, so no, I am not against the PATH station per se. Still, in a perfect world, I'd still prefer that the memorial occupy the footprint(s), just as the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor sits atop the ship and the cemetery at Normandy sits atop the hill. No matter, my point is "their concerns" are as valid today as they were last year, and whether or not I agree is immaterial as I cannot fully appreciate "their loss". Finally, after sleeping on it and with apologies to those offended by my language, I do not regret directing my anger at that post(er). |
