How would the revelation been damaging to US interests?

If you believe the revelation would have been damaging, what was the point of blaming a YouTube video when that was clearly false?

1. The CIA didn't want to let it be known that they quickly knew who did it. That would give the bad guys a hint as to how much the CIA really knew and how good their sources were.

2. I have repeatedly said that the way they hid their knowledge was stupid and clumsy.

I'm making some specific points here and a bunch of you guys seem to think I'm defending the adminsitration on everything. READ.
