That verse does not mark it as the first of the year. It very clearly calls it the seventh month.Exactly. It does mark the first day of the month of Tishrei as Yom Teruah. There is no biblically ordained holiday of "Rosh Hashana;" that name didn't come into existence until Hillel set the calendar around the agricultural year some two millennia later. Nice preamble to your annual conflation of the korban pesach and Chag Hamatzos. |
