The ten commandments are not mentioned in Exodus 34, that's why.Yes, they are: it says so in verse 28: "He was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments." They're in Exodus 20. No, they're not. The phrase "ten commandments" does not appear at that point. Deuteronomy 5 says so. And that set doesn't match Exodus 20 quite either, although you are right that that is the source of the common application of that phrase to the set in Exodus 20. There is an implied "and" in Exodus 34:28. That's special pleading. Show me some more of your proposed implied ands in the Hebrew Scriptures. |
