Science is not a discrete thing that exists in a bubble, like, uhmmm, "god."Scientific truth is expressed by scientists, and is a stunningly squishy field, as I've learned from actual scientists, if you consider that PhDs in such fields as Biology, Physics and Anthropology that I'm personally acquainted with fit the definition of scientist. See what happens to your career, your ability to publish (or perish), or to get plum assignments, or to get your grant renewed (not to mention your academic freedom) if what you glean from your research doesn't agree with your department head, your team leader, or your grantor, to name a few. |
