Did I *say* I heard it anywhere? I'm talking about how the gig works. Flub on the air no matter what and they do either of two things ... bounce you out the door, or sentence you to "pre-recorded" if your ratings are that good.

Every five years, broadcasters have to go for license renewal. ANY complaints in the files can be used to deny that license renewal even over something like this if there are enough complaints. Because of this, any blooper, no matter HOW minor, is not tolerated when you're talent because it can jeopardize that license. The bigger the market, the bigger a deal small shit like this is ...

When a broadcaster isn't well-admired (think channel 9 over all those years) something as stupid as this can force a sale. In BIG markets, the owners really go ballistic over this kind of threat to that license. That's what I'm talking about ... doesn't matter what was said. If folks come out of the woodwork over this and file complaints with the FCC, FOX could lose that license.

And that is why broadcasters will tear talent a new one over anything like this and why talent has to be perfect at all times. It's in the contract.
