I meant that having an SBS route that didn't follow any particular local route in particular was not an option. Yes I know there's the Rogers / NY Ave deviation, but it's still basically the B44. It's close enough that they can say "SBS saves x minutes over the local." If an SBS route followed multiple local routes or none in particular they wouldn't be able to say that so easily.

I follow your other points. I too don't understand why they didn't go with, say, the B46, to start.

The final three were te B46, 41 and 44. Then they eliminated 46 and finally the 41. I believe they felt they woudn't GE able to keep Flatbush Avenue lanes free from double parking. I seem to recall hearing that.

For the southern Brooklyn route they were initially talking about 86 Street under the el combined with the B82 and extended to JFK. Now it seems to be just the B82 with an extension to Gateway.
