I would like to know that NABI 416 Standard Floor is a good bus or bad bus??? My company just purchase 14 1997 NABI 416 Standard Floor Buses for Downtown Disney Area Resorts Shuttle. I did a training last week but never got a chance to drive that bus but NABI 416 Standard is ready to go on the road starting this monday.

Well new jersey transit has ordered just under 1200 416's so I hope they are good. On here you will hear mixed reviews but overall not a bad bus.

Where are these buses from? AC Transit? (If they are, hope they have air conditioning retrofitted!)

the 2900s that are in AC Transit's arrived in 1997. The 3000/3100s arrived in 1998/'99. What do these 416s look like ????

Congratulations on your "new" buses! As someone else here said, you'll get a lot of mixed reviews about them.

I have the pleasure of riding SEPTAs 1996/1997 NABI 416 to work each day (for the most part). Technically, they are American Ikarus built (which was renamed NABI in the middle of the order), but they are the same basic bus.

In my opinion, they seem to be somewhat bulky (not so nimble), yet quite spacious (they can really swallow up a crowd, which I'm sure will help your company). For the most part, they seem to have somewhat smooth ride for the most part (basically over small bumps), but can also rock and bounce quite a bit as well. Also, with a bigger bump, like a pothole, you really feel it (kinda like Gillig Phantoms - the ride quality is quite similar).

As SEPTA's NABIs are getting older (1996/1997), each bus can really differ nowadays. Also, maintenance comes to be a factor here as well. I've also ridden DART First State's NABI 416s (2003) and MTA Maryland's 416s (range of years - I rode the 1999/2000 models).

Personally, I like them, especially the sound they make when the radiator fans are one (particularly with the DD50). They aren't necessarily the best buses out there, but they are decent.

Hope to see them next time I go to Disney world!

I am from Miami, Florida and Miami-Dade Transit's 1997 9701-9750 are the best NABI's Miami has ever had over the 40LFW's. If you want pictures please me offlist at Buswayflyer@aol.com.

I have rode 2 NABI 416 (or according to NABI the 40-SFW).

The first one was a 2000 bus built for MTA Maryland. This bus was a little worn out already, but it rode decently (headsign was busted up as it was a Balios headsign).

The second one that I rode was a 1999 bus built for AC Transit. With the exception of a lack of A/C (yes, AC Transit does not have A/C on any of its buses except for its MCIs lol) this bus was very similar to the bus that I have ridden the most in my life (NABI 40-LFW). The ride quality was pretty much the same.

Can't be MDT's, they are all still in service (except for one or two lost to fires).

This must be more of AC Transit's financial shenanigans to get more Van Stools into service here.

You just reminded me that I've seen a LOT of random buses in Orlando if you can get to the right place at the right time. I couldn't figure out where they all came and went, I thought I saw old NJT buses running.

When they were new in Philly, I kinda liked riding them. They had a bigger heavier feel to me, with wider front door.

I'm glad to hear that the Downtown Disney shuttle is getting 'real' buses - last time I was there, they were using school bus-type vehicles. Post a few pictures when you have a chance.

FTR, "Nabi" is the word for "prophet" in both Hebrew and Arabic.

These are 1997 NABI 416 buses. There is one BIG problem for Florida operation-these buses operated for AC Transit without air conditioning (hence the rear window in the back). I really hope that these buses were retrofitted with rooftop A/C for the steaming Florida summers-and a really strong unit at that!

AC Transit is also selling some 2000 model year non-air-conditioned NABI 40-LFW buses to New Orleans. I am not sure if they are going to the RTA (who really needs newer buses) or to another group in the New Orleans area. Those better get A/C too (I don't know what is up with AC Transit selling their buses to the hot South).

Also, I don't know how they are getting away with getting rid of these buses way before the FTA 12-year minimum.

Yep, that is the reason actually. Despite the fact that passengers do not like those Belgian-built expensive buses, AC Transit is continuing to order more and more to replace the rest of their bus fleet.
