Since it runs by the Mall, probably Yukon. And you can bet they'll take care of the buses that run this route, even if it causes the other buses to get even shittier.

Will they? Maybe it will run from Castleton with new Orion VII's.

I'm assuming Yukon. I will definately take a day off from work to ride the line. But i can't believe they will place scatched up buses on this line. Imagine if the RTs buses try to do this route.

It's better then nothing! I have a feeling it's going to be mostly Nova RTS's from YUK as those are the best buses YUK got

Why not Meadowlands lol. A blue bus with NJT stripes. wow that would be fun. 2 drivers that change places in the middle of the Bayonne Bridge. Let's get this interstate bus service started.

Neither Castleton or Yukon are receiving Hybrids (with the exception of the Yukon S89) because the only road they use for transporting buses is Richmond Terrace and the potholes, dips, bumps, and curves would damage the low-floors beyond belief.

I've noticed that Yukon and Castleton rarely send out any RTS fleets on the S53, S79, or S93 to travel across the Verrazono except during rush hours. The buses usually struggle across the bridge, especially the Novas on the S79, while the Orion Vs usually maintain a good speed.

And the TMCs out of Yukon are pure garbage. If you take an ex-Green Lines bus out of the scrap yard and put it in service, it would probably run better than Yukon's TMCs. I rode two TMCs just this week on the S44 in reverse peak direction during the PM rush hour and it was just huffing and puffing along the streets, moving at snails pace.

According to a user at SILive.com, the S89 will be based out of Yukon, and we all know the deal with Yukon (dirty seats/interiors, broken bells, stuck back doors, frequently breaking down; but after all of this, all the buses have sparkling new paint jobs).

Castleton didn't and isn't getting Orion VIIs. Instead it received 30 1995 O5s from Casey Stengel.

Yukon's buses can't get any worse than they already are. I doubt this bus route will get the "special treatment" though. They'll probably just throw any crappy bus they have available that morning or afternoon onto the route.

Although things will probably change when the new fleet arrives. Going by the MTA's Press Release, the S89 route will most likely have a brand new fleet all to itself, as this new fleet won't have to travel along Richmond Terrace, meaning that it can't exactly be used on the S44/S94, S61/S91, or S74/S84.

That is false. The RTS fleets can show up on the S79 at anytime.
Heck 1 Saturday night I rode on 8301 on the S79 and when I did the video, 9540 comes flying out of nowhere! That is the video I have done that night

Yukon/Castleton Swap Again?

Well speaking of Staten Island routes, just this night, I was waiting for the 9:40pm S40 (leaving Howland Hook) very close to the intersection of Forest Ave & Gothaels Rd North.

As the bus pulled up to my stop, I noticed something very odd. Yukon 1999 Orion V #6204 pulled up and the sign said "S44 - St George Ferry". Everyone waiting for the S40 at the stop was confused out of their minds but the B/O said that it was the S40 and swapped the sign. Is this a frequent practice?

The S79 still tends to have Orion Vs far more often than not. The Novas dominate the S61, S44, S59, S74 and S55/56..which is basically all the other routes.
