I wish Nassau county would take the same initiative and have some new LI Bus routes. The last time there was a major improvement at LI Bus as far as new routes go was the N43.And the N43 now gets very high ridership. |

It's still an express route to an area that absolutely needs more service. But IMO, this route should also serve SUNY Purchase after the 12 service ends on Saturdays. |

So would this new route (which I'm calling 12X for the purpose of this discussion) mean some kind of service reduction on the existing Route 12? Would 12's which would run to WCA be 12X's now, or would all 12's be extended to Jefferson Valley Mall? (The demand for such a service expansion is questionable, but it would be less confusing.) |

Westchester County Airport has gotten a significant expansion in flights, however.The route will simply be called "Airlink". The schedule is already online (PDF). I would expect that the 12 would still have short runs for local service. |

From what I understand, the buses will be a dedicated fleet. Not sure if the buses will be wrapped, as they will probably have to be used on other routes as needed to get to/from Yonkers (on weekdays, it would be logical to have the route from Grasslands, but that depot is closed on weekends). |

I heard they got problems with parking because I always get the alerts in the e-mail saying that for people who want to park at the airport should find another way to go as they long term lot is starting to fill up pretty often, even on major travel days and fridays before a major holiday. |

Uh genius, a deadhead from Yonkers to White Plains is 45 minutes or so. As for the 12, 13, 14, 15, and 19...they are interlined with a down-county route to get them up county.At the end of the up county service (i.e., last trip), the bus on one of the other routes will deadhead either down to White Plains or Grasslands, and do one final trip down to Yonkers, Mount Vernon, or the Bronx, and then pull-in from there. EARTH TO GERBER! ANYBODY HOME? |

Because the 12, 13, 14, 15, and 19 are not "exclusive runs" (that is, the runs on those route are interlined with down-county routes---and this is also done on weekdays, where a bus from the Bronx runs to Port Chester as a 61, becomes a 13, runs to Ossining, becomes a 19, runs to Pleasantville, goes OOS, deadheads to Grasslands, becomes a 1C, runs down to 242, and then pulls in from the subway. |
