If you want to extend this to subways and els, the Second Ave el operated on Second Avenue in Manhattan and Second Avenue in Queens which is now 31 St. |

And of course the Third Avenue El operated on Third Avenue in Manhattan and the Bronx, but that's not a fair comparison because they were really the same street. In fact, Third Avenue is the only numbered avenue in the Bronx. |

The R operates on Broadway in both Manhattan and Queens and the M operates on Broadway in both Brooklyn and Queens.There's also the 1 in Manhattan and Bronx, but that's also the same Broadway. |

The R is the only line that serves all of Downtown Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan (below Canal Street), Midtown Manhattan, and Long Island City. Despite the many other lines serving these areas, the R is the only one that hits all four as part of its standard operation. (The N does so overnight and there are W specials). |
