MTA Bus
Due to a budget crisis, service is discontinued on several bus routes and others have changes made as a result. Borough by borough, here are the numbers:
The Bronx
- Bx18 - Morris Heights: Discontinued.
- Bx25 - Asch Loop: Discontinued, though Bx26 service along that route path remained.
- Bx34 - Woodlawn-Norwood: Weekend and evening service discontinued.
- Bx41 - Wakefield: Service on White Plains Road north of East Gun Hill Road replaced by extension of Bx39.
- A proposed Bx50 limited-stops route between Fordham Plaza and LaGuardia airport, in the pipeline since February 2008, is shelved.
- Bx55 - Third Avenue: Weekend and evening service discontinued.
Brooklyn
- B23 - Cortelyou Road is discontinued.
- B51 route along the Manhattan Bridge is discontinued.
- B75 - Smith Street is discontinued, and replaced with the B57 and B61 routes.
- B77 - Erie Basin Extension is discontinued and combined with B61.
Manhattan
- M1 - Fifth and Madison Avenues: Cut back from South Ferry to 8th Street and Fourth Avenue; northbound route's transition to Madison Avenue switched from Park Avenue and 39th Street to Park Avenue South and 25th Street, and southbound route now runs all the way along Fifth Avenue (except the diversion to Mount Morris Park between 124th and 120th Streets) from 139th Street to 8th Street, thus mimicking the old FACCo route #1 along that stretch. In addition, weekend service south of 106th Street and overnight service is also discontinued.
- M2 - Fifth and Madison Avenues via Seventh Avenue: Along with route M3 - Fifth and St. Nicholas Avenues, its northbound route shifted away from University Place and 9th Street and running all along Fourth Avenue up to Union Square.
- M5 - Fifth Avenue-Riverside Drive: Extended south from Houston Street and West Broadway to South Ferry.
- M6 - Broadway-Avenue of the Americas: Discontinued and replaced by M5 south of Houston Street.
- M8 - 8th and 9th Streets Crosstown: Weekend and overnight service discontinued.
- M9 - Rerouted from Avenue B to Avenue C to 23rd Street, and rerouted to Park Row as replacement for M15 service to City Hall.
- M10 - Eighth Avenue-Central Park West: Service south of Columbus Circle is discontinued.
- M15 - First and Second Avenues: Branch to Park Row-City Hall discontinued, M9 service substituted.
- M18 - Convent Avenue: Discontinued.
- M20 - Eighth Avenue: Service extended south to South Ferry as replacement for M9 service.
- M21 - Houston Street-Avenue C: Weekend service discontinued, route extended to FDR Drive.
- M22 - Madison and Chambers Streets: Overnight service discontinued.
- M27 - 49th-50th Streets Crosstown: Discontinued, replaced with M104 service.
- M30 - 72nd Street Crosstown: Discontinued, with route consolidated into M31 and M57 routes.
- M42 - 42nd Street Crosstown: Service to Javits Center discontinued.
- M50 - 49th-50th Streets Crosstown: Weekend and overnight service discontinued.
- M66 - 65th Street Crosstown: Overnight service discontinued.
- M98 - Third and Lexington Avenues: Service south of 68th Street to Grand Central discontinued.
- M104 - Broadway: Service to 42nd Street-1st Avenue-United Nations discontinued, southern terminus changed to 41st Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal as replacement for M27.
Queens
- Q14 - Flushing-Whitestone: Discontinued, partially replaced by Q15A.
- Q74 - Vleigh Place Shuttle: Discontinued.
- Q75 - 73rd Avenue: Discontinued.
- Q89 - South Ozone Park-Jamaica: Discontinued.
Staten Island
- S42 - Brighton Avenue: Service along Silver Lake discontinued.
- S57 - Watchogue Road: Discontinued.
Express Buses
- BxM4A - Manhattan-Bedford Park: Discontinued.
- BxM7B - Manhattan-City Island: Discontinued and replaced with two BxM8 trips.
- QM22 - Manhattan-Jackson Heights: Discontinued.
- QM23 - Manhattan-Woodhaven: Discontinued.
- X13 and X16 - Lower Manhattan-Port Richmond: Discontinued.
- X18 - Lower Manhattan-Concord: Discontinued.
- X20 - Lower Manhattan-South Beach: Discontinued.
- X25 - Battery Park City-Midtown Manhattan: Discontinued.
- X29 - Manhattan-Coney Island: Discontinued.
- X37 - Manhattan-Bay Ridge and X38 - Manhattan-Cropsey Avenue: Discontinued for a year, restored in 2011.
- X51 - Manhattan-Sanford Avenue (Queens): Discontinued.
- X83 - Yankee Stadium-Randall's Island: Discontinued.
- X90 - Battery Park City-Yorkville: Discontinued.
