February 18, 1935 - The Book of Route Operational Changes
Manhattan, New York
Green Bus Lines, Inc.
Comprehensive Omnibus Corporation
Three days after inaugurating service on the M-7 - 65th Street Crosstown line, Comprehensive Omnibus takes over operation of the M-1 - Madison-Chambers and M-3 - 49th-50th Streets Crosstown lines. The two routes had been operated since 1933 by Green Bus Lines. The M-1 was one of two lower Manhattan routes (the other being the Spring and Delancey Streets line) placed under "emergency bus service" via the Department of Plant and Structures on September 21, 1919 (as Route C); service along 49th and 50th Streets had been handled as early as 1930 under DP&S aegis, initially as Route 85.
