Posted by W.B. on Wed Jul 9 03:25:57 2025

July 9, 1925 - The Book of First Runs

Manhattan and Queens, New York
Fifth Avenue Coach Company

Fifth Avenue Coach extends its presence into Queens with two new routes, 15 - Fifth Avenue-Queensboro Bridge-Jackson Heights which runs from 82nd Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens to 25th Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, and 16 - Elmhurst Crosstown which only runs through Queens along Baxter Avenue and Broadway between Queens Boulevard and Northern Boulevard. The two routes are housed at a new depot Fifth Avenue Coach opens along Jackson Heights at 76th Street and Northern Boulevard. Of the two, only the first remains today, known as QM15 from January 1973 until 1974, M32 from July 1, 1974 to March 1989, and Q32 from then to this day; the second route's designation would be modified in January 1973 as QM16, changed to Q89 on July 1, 1974, and discontinued in 1988.
