The M125 timetable gives the west destination as St. Claire Place, spelled as my wife's name but honoring a little boy.

The highest numbered bus in NYC. Also, highest numbered ever, beating the old R118.

The highest numbered ever actually goes to the M191 bus (which operated while the elevators at 191st Street were closed for replacement ).

M125 is still the highest-numbered permanent route.

What was the R118? Only remember the R117 as the highest.

Permanent until the next re-examination of the bus routes and they figure out they never should have split it from the Bx15.

In the late 1980's there was a plan for another R118 route that would mostly travel along Amboy Road. It wasn't approved because it paralled the train and would not be cost effective. A driver told me it was even scheduled out but never was implemented.

Third Avenue service today is definitely a far cry from the subway service it used to have, or even the bus service to Harlem on the Bx15, and to Gun Hill Road on the Bx55.

Awesome photos! Interesting choice by the MTA having Tuskegee operate the route when it literally ends down the block from Manhattanville.

Wonky or not, the message boards, all three of them, are appreciated by this former rider of TARS and B&QT.

The moderator deserves heaps of praise.

The R118 started at the New Dorp station, then ran along what are parts of the S76 and S57 today. Except that the R118 ran all the way along Guyon Avenue to Mill Road where it turned right ending at the old Oakwood Beach, IIRC at the foot of Tarlton Street.

Thanks for posting. I like the juxtaposition of the M125 bus and the very large 'Uber' sign.
