I guess Byford was not so perfect either. He simply wanted "new" without evaluation.

No one is perfect, but if he were there, I bet he would have taken action quicker.

The problem is no one cares anymore about quality anymore. They need better guarantees in the contracts.

They built a new six story building in my neighborhood about three years ago. They have put scaffolding around the building three times already after the building opened and was rented for several months each time.

My neighbors all had their front porches all rebuilt and it seems after three years everyone is making repairs.

Construction was removed from his control, but I believe Procurement was still under his control and they write the contracts which stipulates guarantees and warrantees so I am not sure if you are entirely correct.

Yeah, contracts that were awarded years before he was at the MTA.
