[Photos & Videos] Hybrids on the QM17 + more!

Posted by Q23 on Wed May 20 23:51:48 2020

With the overnight subway closure, multiple local and express bus routes have been operating overnight. The QM17 overnight service is operated by JFK depot, which is why they're using Orion VII hybrids instead of the MCI's from Far Rockaway depot.

Also seen here are some stuff from Janaury, February, and March. Enjoy, and thanks for viewing.

The QM17 has hybrids, but the EWR bus has a MCI, this pandemic has really made everything backwards huh? Thanks for taking these soon to be historic photos.

Cool.
I would consider it torture to have ride that QM17 though.

If your origin and destination are both within walking distance of the QM17, it's still probably more pleasant than the usual A local train via Brooklyn.

It's not unusual for an MCI to pop up on the EWR line, but that line really should be just NABIs now.

The last run to Manhattan of the X51 used an Orion VII Hybrid,. I was a passenger.
It was a thrilling, fast ride in the L.I.E.

As far as thrilling and fast go, the Q21 and Q53 when they ran the first-generation Orion VII hybrids with the original, unmodified acceleration around the 2008/2009 range were a lot of fun off-peak on Cross Bay Blvd in the Jamaica Bay area.
