NJT to conduct NYC interstate bus survey

Posted by kcram3500 on Fri May 22 15:40:00 2020

06/25/20 02:00 Proposals Due: Request For Proposal RFP No.20-054, "TRANS-HUDSON INTERSTATE BUS SURVEY." No Fee** To obtain a copy of the RFP & Proposal submittal instructions please send an e-mail request to intakeunit@njtransit.com. Please include your complete mailing address and business contact numbers.

This was in the works before the pandemic, so it will be very interesting to see the results now that some businesses and employees may opt to work remotely full time going forward. Changes in bus commuting to Manhattan will also affect how PANYNJ moves forward with PABT rehab/replacement plans.

They should also focus on INTRAstate commuting patterns, all but impossible now by bus unless ones goes into PABT and back out. Look at some of those silly Trip Planner results that come out.

XBL had been running at about 110% capacity. Just as well some commuting goes away. The #126 bus is 7% of it all.

I wonder if people would take a bus to Secaucus and transfer to the train there if the option was available.

There also needs to be more 24/7 bus service. Routes like the 126, 128, and 159 should all have at least hourly headways overnight.

Some would. Give up your bus seat that might take 45 or 60 minutes from Exit X15X to PABT, verses a 10 minute train ride.
