Posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Sat Feb 8 08:57:42 2020 Tuscarora Almanac – February 8, 1931 – The Book of First and Last Runs Westchester County, New York Third Avenue Railway Company The Third Avenue Railway Company converts two streetcars lines to bus operation. The Gramatan Avenue – Bronxville and the Pelham-Mount Vernon Lines will become bus routes C and G respectively. The Gramatan Avenue line dates back to 1899 when it was known as the Bronxville Line. The Pelham Line goes back to at least 1902. The bus service will be provided by the New York & Westchester Electric Railroad Company. Gramatan Avenue-Bronxville - wasn't that what later morphed into Fifth Avenue-Mount Vernon? I know that one, as of the 1950's, sported the Route C letter in Westchester Electric's/Westchester Street Transportation's Mount Vernon Division. (Meanwhile, by then they had Gramatan Avenue designated Route E.) |
