Westchester Electric Railroad Company
Westchester Street Transportation Company, Inc.
The New York State Public Service Commission approves the merger of the Westchester Electric Railroad (which had operated streetcar routes in Westchester County) with, and its absorption into, Westchester Street Transportation, the bus subsidiary of Third Avenue Transit Corporation. This is about two weeks before that company is merged with its principal subsidiary Surface Transportation Corporation of New York, reorganized as Surface Transit, Inc., and acquired by Fifth Avenue Coach Lines.
