11/14/19 12:00 Proposals Due: Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 19-068 "BERGEN COUNTY LOCAL BUS SERVICE"
Community is running the Bergen contract under an emergency contract extension to the Passaic contract, after Saddle River Trails backed out on April 2 2019.
The new RFP may only be written as a 5 year contract since 2 years of the original 7-year deal were already used, or NJT may choose to make it a 7-year proposal from scratch.
Community and Transdev had bid against SRT 2 years ago. I imagine it will be those two again, but First Transit went after the Passaic contract - will they jump in on this re-issue of Bergen, or will Academy take another shot at Bergen... that will be the interesting factor. Regardless, I think it will definitely be an experienced transit operator from those 4 carriers. No more companies like SRT who want to test their abilities.
