NICE routes saved N19,57,78/79 |

Posted by Caine515 on Fri Mar 31 12:19:43 2017 NICE bus officially reinstated 4 lines that were supposed to be cut. They are N19,N57,N78/79 lines. They have now service beginning April 9 to rush hours weekdays only. Hopefully by June maybe Saturday service and more weekday service on the N79 and some more restorations. |

Meanwhile Rockville Centre depot will still be closed? This means buses crowded into Mitchell Field and less maintenance bays for the fleet.And NICE maintenance is crappy as it is. They had buses running around all last summer w/o a/c. |

Heh, reminds me of when I tried to argue in favor of running CDTA buses to the Amtrak station past 7PM on Sunday.Me: The 7:45 and 9:45 PM arrivals from NYC have so many people, if you're not in the first wave of cabs (which are already multi-fare) you're stuck waiting 20-30 minutes for them to return for the second wave of passenger delivery. Them: even so, we show low ridership at that time. Me: well of course, when you run no buses it's easy to have no customers! Them: ...true But that was the end of it. We still have no buses for the extremely popular late Sunday arrivals. |

At the time of this writing the routes operate this way:N19-weekday rush hour only. N78/N79-weekday rush hours. Saturday service IS avaible. However there is no service between 12:30 pm to 3:30pm. I wish the service was offered middays on Saturdays. |
