Received this from a friend when I sent a copy of this image.The Surface Transportation Corp. bus is (I think) on East 180th Street after the blizzard of December 26, 1947. The wire from the Z-180th Street Crosstown trolley was unused after October, 1947 when the Bx36 bus began running. I recall that the remaining Bronx trolleys resumed operation the day after the blizzard, but the buses didn't return until almost a week later! |

No wonder the Surface Transportation GMC looks brand new. It was. Quite a contrast to few years later, when STS buses (GMCs and Macks) looked like junk early on because of the firm's notoriously poor maintenance. |

Does anyone remember when STS buses were being painted in the FACCO green paint scheme and between the front and rear doors, no two doors were the same color. |
