If you note the run number on the bus which is located in the bottom right side of the front window and the bus number, call NYCT travel info and report it. A few years ago I was walking down 9 St towards 5 Av in Bkln at about 154AM and noticed a B63 bus passing by enroute to Shore Rd even though the bus was not due there until 207AM. A bus running that far ahead of time especially when the headway is 50 min at that time is unacceptable. The following week I went by there a bit earlier and the bus came by at about 159AM still too early. When I boarded the bus and diaplyed my TA pass with the appropriate gold supt’s badge, the operator then sat at the stop until his scheduled leave time. Had a non employee (or in my case a non manager) boarded at the same time, I suspect the operator would have continued on his way continuing to be early and inconveniencing passengers who needed that bus and/or those transferring from other lines that were running on time. Other time drivers operate inordinately late on similar headways also inconveniencing passengers. Hopefully a RELIABLE and ACCURATE GPS system can be devised so that operators will operate with absolute precision. |

At Septa, we call that "jumping the stand". In mid-route I have been on buses that run 3-4 to even 5 minutes ahead of schedule at certain time points.Some operators, if they can, will pull over and park and kill time and others don't worry about it. I'm sure with the AMDT , it is showing 5E or whatever, I guess nobody worries about it. |
