NJT Transfers and Contuinuing Trip Tickets

Posted by BusMgr on Sat Mar 17 19:41:37 2018

The NJT Riders Guide, for bus customers, contains a section describing transfers and continuing trip tickets.

1. As to transfers, the guide states that these "can be purchased from any bus operator for intrastate travel (within New Jersey), but "[t]ransfers are not available for travel to or from New York City or Philadelphia." Although not included along with New York City and Philadelphia, is one to assume that transfers are also not allowed when traveling to or from Warwick (routes 196 and 197)? That is, passengers from Warwick who transfer to another route at, say Willowbrook Mall, must pay a second full fare on the connecting bus?

2. As to continuing trip tickets, the guide states that "[a] limited number of connecting bus routes and Newark Light Rail offer continuing trip ticket privileges." However, those routes are not identified in the guide, nor have I found any other page within the website that enumerates all of the routes that offer continuing trips. Is there any comprehensive list?

On the first bus, you pay only as many zones until the transfer point plus thd transfer charge. On the 2nd bus, you pay the incremental zone charges.

Bring a lot of change.
