In a way, the demise of this route enabled MaBSTOA and/or MTA NYC Bus to later rename its 8th Street crosstown, heretofore known as (M)13 since New York City Omnibus days in the 1930's, as today's M8, as part of their trend of renaming crosstown routes after the streets they travel on (i.e. M23, M34, M42, M57 and so on). |
