Most county bus systems throughout the state get state subsidies. The state should seize NICE from Nassau County, and then send Nassau County a non-negotiable bill. |

Nassau County is getting lots of dollars from NYS. The amount they contribute is the minimum required to maintain that level of state funding. The legality of your suggestion is questionable, although reasonable in its intention. |

Nassau County should be stepping up and doing their job. The state gives them 65+ million, plus the fare collection. They kick in the bare minimum required to get that subsidy. Apparently, the county politicians don't see this as an issue that will cause any of them not to be re elected. 5000 passengers is a large number by itself, but not in terms of a struggling county of 1.3 million that is already very heavily taxed. Nassau County has lots of serious financial problems, this is only one of them. |

One never knows. It could be possible that the MTA might return to painting the blue stripe below the window line the way it was on the R-40Ms through 46s before the graffiti epidemic but with a little gold added. Perhaps if prince Andrew had been the governor when the redbirds were GOHed, they might not have been redbirds at all, but bluebirds with gold trim. |

I believe technically orange and blue are the New York CITY colors as opposed to NY state which explains the Qs. Also originally the R-29 subway cars were to have orange and blue interiors instead of the 2 tone blue that they eventually had and there was one R-9, 1741 and a couple of R-12s or 14s with orange and blue interiors as well. |

The paint on state vehicles boost your profile? So, now you're going to supercede Melbourne and Vancouver because of the paint on your police cars? This is a lol or something? |

I’ve seen them but I don’t recall the exact configuration of the paint scheme. The original redbirds. the R-29s and 33s had grey seats as did the WF R-33Ss and R-36s. The WF cars had a slightly different interior scheme from the 29s and 33s which was the scheme used on the BMT/IND cars from the R-32s through the 42s. When the cars were all GOHed, the pink send blue seats on cars that had them were all painted grey since pink and blue seats did not match the beige interior paint scheme used on the GOHs, and gray would pretty much go with just about any interior paint scheme the MTA might chose to use. |

However, if the older buses need repainting anyhow either due to post accident repairs or routine maintenance, then the new scheme should be applied. In the past I recall NYCTA buses originally in the 2 tone green being painted in the various permutations of MTA colors. |

Agreed! At rehab time I assume they would paint the buses into whatever is the current color scheme.I was a child when the TA went to the two-tone blue scheme, but I do remember many buses being repainted from green to blue, especially at MABSTOA. It always seemed like TA managed to keep many buses in the green color until they retired. Speaking of that... I can recall TA's 126th depot having a '66 5303AC (I think it was 8098 or 8198), that stayed green. |

I recall seeing a TDH-5301 in green as late as 1979. Still had the "New York City Transit Authority" above the windows, had not been fouled by the two-tone M. I'm sure there were others, but I was living in L. A. then and had just come back to NYC for a few days. |

Yeah, many (if not most) of the remaining TDH5301s were in green. Some of them actually came over to MABSTOA (KB and COL)in the early 80s. Also... Many of TA's Flxible 56/5700 also stayed in the green color scheme. At MABSTOA... by the late 70s there were no green buses except some of the remaining 5201-5525 series TDH-5303s |
