SEPTA Senior Card

Posted by northshore on Tue Jan 10 07:50:57 2017

edf40wrjww2msgDetailB:detailStr
An elderly friend of mine applied for a Senior Citizen Card in July. He has still not received it after numerous communications. He most recently called Customer Service. They told him they cannot do anything but to call a special number. He did. Recording says "Leave a Message". When he tried message was "Mailbox is Full". When he call Customer Service back that said there is nothing that can do. Sounds like the new fare card program is having problems.

The NY system where they issue a temporary card while the permanent one is being processed is better for the public.

Or if you are lucky (like me and others) to get the permanent card within 1 hour when going to 3 Stone.

I did get a temporary card at 3 Stone when my permanent card went bad after only 1 1/2 months of use. Took 3.5 weeks to get the permanent card back in the mail.

Septa Cust Serv has been anything but helpful. One idiot said the cards MAY have been mailed in alphabetical order. Does my last name start in "Z". To which I replied emphatically NO. He just fumfered through and referred me to another number to call. One CS rep can't handle another department's function.
I took to the "CHAT" on Septa's website. Twice. One agent gave me a totally wrong number, area code and all!
The second time, I was on with an agent 31 minutes but he was as helpful as he could be, with retaking all my pertinent info and bringing it to the Key Card unit, who, at some point today, would research and give him an answer, which he would then email to me. At 8:39pm, still no results.

Come to think of it maybe they are sending cards according to distance. Makes as much sense as sending alphabetically.

Hope this isn't an omen. I still never received mine, even after two in person applications. I may be dead by the mine shows up.
Good new: I'm not on the list of cards returned. Tra-la. Still hope?

I forgot to mention, in DC, you get the card immediately, senior card, one pays $2 with no picture, and medicare/disabled, one takes a picture and it is immediately printed up and is free.

When they saw you photo, they probably thought you were a 39 year old trying to pass as a senior, so they they out the application.

I have been hearing little tidbits on Facebook about people having troubles with the regular Key Cards, storing inaccurate amounts, i.e., running out of value , etc. When I ride the buses, everybody's Key card or Senior Key Card seems to work, it beeps properly, a two-tone beep for a regular KEY card and triple sound beep for Seniors. My Senior card always works except if the reader box is not functioning, then the driver waves you on.

Senior Key Card

I am still hearing the stories about people waiting for their Key Cards, Septa is having a hard time keeping up with the demand, it seems.

Septa admits the Key system software is faulty, so we struggle through it.

According to SEPTA, most of the issues lie with the vendor. One hand doesn't know...
If that's case, get a new vendor. Take more positive control over the matter. After all, it is SEPTA that's getting the bad rap.
