What year did the Flxible FD26V-401 5601-5790 come out? And where were they assigned? if you please.

I do remember the 5700's in Staten Island in the 70's with the 5000's and 5100's but no 5600's.

These Flxible New Look FD26V model Transit's that you are referring to were manufactured in 1964. The 5600's were assigned to the Castleton Depot, while the 5100's were in Brooklyn.

The 5600's were originally assigned to ENY. I'm not sure but 5700's as well may have been at ENY. During the 70's, the 5600's - mid 5700's went to FLU (CS). QV also had 5600's. Around 1980 or so, FLU received upper 5700's (from CAS?). I remember seeing 5790 (the highest) on the Q27.

I remember back in '69, there were some 5700's out of Jamaica, since I remember seeing them on the Merrick Blvd Routes [4, 4a, 5, 5a]. The 5600's were Brooklyn buses since they were seen on the B22, 53, and 56 on Jamaica Ave.

Strange, I never remember seeing any 5600s, and I always lived near ENY routes (first the B10, later the B47) back in the 60s and 70s. Only early Flxibles I ever saw were on the B44 (and sometimes B41 and B49) out of Flatbush. They were never my favorite buses, so I didn't care that much.

I grew up in the Bronx and I'm was pretty certain that the 5000 series never operated in the Bronx (or any OA depots). However, I do remember seeing the 5600/5700 series quite often on the Q44.

The Bx12 used to operate out of Colisuem depot which did have '70 Flxible 111C-D51 #4664-4720 in the late 70s. I think earlier COL actually had all of the 4700 series Flxibles.

"The 5600's were Brooklyn buses since they were seen on the B22, 53, and 56 on Jamaica Ave".

The B53/Q54 was always FP going back to the early 60's which didn't have the 5600's. Just the B22 and B56 had them. I think when ENY and FP received the 4100's during late 1969, the 5600's left ENY depot for the Queens depots. I remember seeing a 5600 on the B56 and thinking that the first two digits were the same as the route number.

I remember them upper 4600s and 4700s in green and silver on the BX 25 in front of the KB Armory waiting for departure. I loved those BIG rear windows, even though I overall hated Flxibles. I always thought of them as cheap imitations of GM New Looks. When they got the 7700s and 9000s to replace them with the small oval rear windows I only admired the working AC. Some of the 4000s got repainted in two tone blue while in Coliseum.

Actually all of the 4600/4700 were eventually painted in the two-tone blue colors. In fact the only OA buses to remain in the original green paint scheme were some of the older GMC 5303 (3301-3555, 5201-5525). All newer OA 5303 (6401-6900, 8301-8780) and Flxible 111C-D51 (4600-4727) were eventually painted two-tone blue and of course the latter GMC (5309A/10A) and Flxibles (7300-7361, 7700-7937 and 9160-9309) were delviered in the two-tone blue colors.

Yeah, you're correct. I think MABSTOA was much bigger on painting buses than NYCTA. I say this because, but the late 70s you really could few (if any) green OA buses whereas TA had plenty of them. Then in the 80s nearly all of the new look buses had been painted in the blue/white colors.

Yeah you may be right. We know the blue/white came along in the late 70s with a minor change with the first TA RTS order and it's pretty much been the same since. The only thing to change since '81 was the MTA logo, elimination of MABSTOA decals and the eventual change from NYCTA decals to MTA NYCT decals.
