As of September 2016, the M5 will run from 178th St. to 31st St. retaining Skip Stops.

The M55 will run between South Ferry and 44th St. with NO Skip Stops.

Sorry, no M6!

What about the M1 being extended south of 8th St and Broadway to Worth St, I'm surprised that this wasn't mentioned at all.

I think that shortlining the M5 at 31 St is a bit extreme considering that the service ran as far as 8 St and even Houston St seemingly without problems. Maybe South Ferry was a bit too long but either 8 St or Houston would probably be OK.

They do not want overlapping, like cutting M10 to 59 st..

Sometimes a certain amount of overlapping is necessary for passenger convenience.

They said 88% of current passengers wouldn't need to transfer under this proposal. To push it so the remaining 12% wouldn't need to transfer is more trouble than it's worth.

They probably figured the M55 is enough, especially going up to 44th Street. There would be a direct connection from the heart of 5th Avenue to the lower Broadway corridor.
