At 10:00 AM the Metro bus that was on demo in Philly was seen heading NB on the Blvd. at Oxford Circle!!! They showed the bus in Philly as a sample of the model Septa is buying. It's a Xcelsior. Philly's will be the boring white scheme.
This bus:

Metro bus in Philly

I wonder if it's heading to NYC for a demo?

I hope not, TChuck. We've enough of 'em already. What can be different other than the paint.
Xcelsiors quickly becoming the RTS of the day.

Only that WMATA's are diesel-electric hybrids.

Not for NYC. Seems we're done with that.

Jersey, maybe? Might have been heading to either Trenton or Newark if they were heading north on 1.

I heard that NYC dislikes diesel-electric type buses, I would even fathom to say "hates" them.
SEPTA likes our diesel -electric hybrids, and plans to buy (525) New Flyer Excelsior's. The (185) Nova Artics and (90) 40ft. Novas are generally disliked by the Septa operators. I haven't heard a good sample of like or dislike from the riders, and I haven't ridden a Nova myself.

I really enjoy a s Septa hybrid on The Route 104, they sound great and are much, much quieter than a diesel. It's a nice ride from 69th st. to West Chester, Pa.
