These were also the first buses to be delivered in blue paint. |

Going back to the mid 60's, my favorite bus was Mack C-49 #6129. IIRC, #6129 was the only Mack C-49 that had salmon colored fiberglass seats, while all the other Macks had pistachio green colored fiberglass seats. Rode that bus on the B-68I heard there was a C-49 with fluorescent lights, but never saw it. Bill Newkirk |

The EIP was introduced in 1970 on the TxH-5305/5306 and S8x-5303 as an option. GMC would still build street-level exhaust if requested... some late US Fishbowls were delivered with the new rear-window air intake on both sides and street exhaust, instead of the EIP's usual curbside air intake and streetside vertical exhaust pipe. |

There were a few non blitzed 6000 buses at Gleason and at Flatbush in 1990 and 91 and less in 92. There was 6045 6085 as well as 6047. There were 6100s and a few 6200s that weren't blitzed. 6079 comes to mind as well. Ulmer park didn't have any in 1990-91 school year but by 1992-93 a few were in ulmer park. 6246 comes to mind particularly because it made a very strange noise as it was idling. That bus had been at Flatbush in 1990-91. |

Yes those other numbers now come back to mind, there were a slew of 6000's in Gleason during the 80's (6200-6310) mostly from Casey Stengel (Flushing)Crosstown and Castelton. Museum 5227 was also assigned there for a while and retired there. Many of the BLITZED 5500's went to LI Bus(MESBA)prior to retiring. The RTS's were a radical change to the fleet after the garage was re-built in 1984 and re-named Gleason. Quickly thereafter, RTS buses began rolling in (3400-3484) and were a welcomed sight to the drivers assigned there.WE-44 |

Bill that may have been experimental MACK C49 #6049 assigned to Ulmer Park, that bus also sported slide windows even in the rear.! I'm sure someone has a photo of it or at least on the outside.WE-44 |

They also had 6400 which appears to originally be 4400. Renumbered in about '85 when the RTS 4400 came around. There were a ton of 3400s and 4600s when I started school. There were 1981 models like 1500s as I recall. |

Do you remember the bus parked in Floyd Bennett along Flatbush ave? I think the Police Academy used it. I believe it was 6387. It was probably renumbered from the 4000s like 6400. |

The bus in question was a 5305 model white painted roof blue stipe and aluminum siding below the belt line. It rarely moved and then one day was gone forever. |
