Let me be perfectly clear, as an unindicted co-conspiritor once said. The picture Mr. Newkirk displayed is a White. However, I believe the bus whose interior I showed is a bus of a different color. |

Re: Guess Bus Type - Answer |

Posted by Stephen Bauman on Sat Mar 28 21:00:59 2015, in response to Guess Bus Type, posted by Stephen Bauman on Thu Mar 26 19:24:32 2015. It's the steerage deck of a Queen Mary (Yellow Coach Model 735).I rode these buses and recognized it. However, I still had to look for a few clues to confirm it. 1. The driver isn't visible. There's something blocking him. It's the stairway going to the first class deck, as can be seen in the above link. 2. The seat in the front and the one behind the rear door appear to be higher than those between them. It could be a camera angle. It could also correspond to raising the seat above the wheel. Look how the windows slope up in the link. It could also mean that the seats inside were slightly higher. 3. That's a pretty small front windshield. Also that windshield is vertical. 4. Look at the scenery outside the windows. That's the Central Park wall. That indicates it's a Fifth Avenue Co, bus. 5. Take a look at the sign above the rear door. It reads "Step on Treadle to Open Door." That was a Queen Mary feature. 6. Look at the windows. They are split and open at the bottom. That matches the Queen Mary. I guess people are a lot less interested in guessing bus models than transit car models, even if it is a NYC classic. |
