Q19 question

Since the Q19 has been extended to Main St., it stops at 126th Place and Northern Blvd., where you can get off for Citifield. However, per MTA Bustime, there is no corresponding stop in the reverse direction (although there is one across Northern Blvd. and 126th for the Q66).
Why doesn't the Astoria-bound Q19 stop near Citifield?

Astoria bound Q19 bus is on the highway portion and has to go over the Grand Central Parkway interchange

There's no way to do street running and get to Astoria Blvd. later? Maybe they should stay on Northern Blvd. till 108 St. then cut north to Astoria Blvd.

I don't know why? I haven't notice anyone boarding or getting off at 126 St when I was riding Q19 a year ago.

It would be useful during Mets games, and after the "Iron Triangle" is developed.

Not for night games. Last bus leaves Main/Roosevelt @ 8:30 PM; 8:00 PM on weekends.

I've actually gotten on the Q66 east of 127th Place, where the westbound splits into the Northern Blvd road and a road that joins the Grand Central Parkway later on. That's how I was able to get this shot:

DSC05054

I took a look at my Q19 video and it passes by this unmarked stop, so theoretically it could be able to stop at this particular spot AND the stop at 126th Street, since Astoria splits off Northern Blvd over the Grand Central. The reason why the Q66 stops there but not the Q19 is something I don't know.

When CP depot had the Q19, the Q19 stopped there just like the Q66. Once the Q19 went back to LGA depot, LGA depot drivers refused to stop at that stop.

How can they refuse? Can't the bosses tell them to stop there?

But it is not considered a Q19 stop currently because it's not listed on BusTime or Trip Planner.

Write to the MTA to add the stop.

DOT determines bus stops, not MTA.

Perhaps there is no official stop there is because buses accellerate slowly and due to the high speed nature of the road it was felt a bus would have a hard time leaving the stop safely w/o another vehiclechaving to brake hard?

"DOT determines bus stops, not MTA."

Yes and no. MTA can request a stop and DOT will usually grant it. I have written to MTA to establish stops, and it has been done.

The LGA drivers refuse because there is no bus stop sign present. The CP drivers made the stop for the Q19 because they've been doing this for the Q66 for many years.

The DOT may determine the location of the stop but it is the MTA that determines which buses stop there.

I have recently asked the MTA to have the Jamaica bound Q8 route & New Lots Avenue bound B84 routes stop at Fountain Avenue/Vandalia Avenue where currently only the Bushwick/Ridgewood bound B13 stops at to provide less walking distance for Q8 & B84 passengers departing from the Brooklyn Developmental Center.
