Sure you are, you are "crossing the yellow" where your vehicle may still be in the general trajectory toward oncoming [vehicle lanes],( because there may not necessarily be vehicles present). |

Defensive driving includes when you see an unsafe driver, you stay away and let him go about his business. You don't keep up with him because you don't want to be involved in a collision with said driver.The above statement has noting to do with this topic, just a general idea. |

In the case of a U-turn, you would line it up similar to a left turn and proceed only when clear. In this case, the bus deliberately crossed the yellow line to cut off the driver, even though a driver entering the lane where he's supposed to might not notice the bus and get side-swiped. That's why the yellow line is striped the way it is. |
