Posted by caine515 on Tue Oct 21 17:43:42 2014 Spotted now. NOVALFS artic #5350 run 7x1 (must be a spare) on the B49 to sheepsead bay station. Is this due to short buses or of sonething to come? |

MTA is testing out how those buses work on that line in an effot to remove runs off that line. Not sure how its going or what articulateds will come down to run the route but its been going on for about a week or two. |

Figured it was some sort of test because running those on trips to Sheepshead Bay makes no sense at all since those buses only get between 6 and 10 passengers. It is the B1 that needs the artics, but Ulmer Park doesn't have any.It would make more sense for the B44 SBS to be extended (every other bus) to the college because B49 riders would shift to the B44 and nearly empty buses would be filled. That's how to cut B49 runs. |

We have three new extras on the B49 during the week (runs X1, 2 & 3) - which will utilize LFSAs at the moment. Some trips terminate at Avenue U and Ocean Avenue; some will terminate at Empire Blvd. It all depends on what's needed.My thought process is, this will be a way to cut runs and increase the headway and put more folks inside the artics rather than overcrowding an 40 ft. bus in a way. This is not the official word, but that's how it's looking right now. |
