I found out that the Vikings are higher than the MCI's and they cannot clear many overhangs. The only route they could be used on was the X-51 Flushing-Manhattan Express. When the X-51 was discontinued, the buses were retired and are now in storage @ Eastchester Depot. |

They don't want to get sued if someone drives the bus somewhere it can't fit? I think if another TA like NJT wanted them, the TA would probably sell it to them, but there probably hesitant to sell these buses to some random person. |

Surplus sales had them up there for IIRC $80K. No takers, except they showed up on bus bargain news with the photos copied from MTA surplus sales site. |

They are m/y 1999 buses and other than Houston and NY, no one bought them. Why go through hoops to find a way to operate something you've only got three of. Sad to see any bus disappear, but the cruiser/coach market is MCI and Prevost for the foreseeable future. It's not like New Flyer misses them in their product line, they seem to be doing pretty well on the transit side. |

San Diego is using a bunch of Bluebird "coaches" (ech!) on their Veolia-operated commuter express trips. Their new Rapid Ride (MTS operated) are using new suburban seating New Flyer artics. |
