The NY Daily News tipped me off to this encouraging story from Concepcion, Chile.

  • From the microbus's camera, we see passengers enter and pay fares. One young lady carries a large pocket book and sits in a front seat. A thug (un flaite) enters, attempts to grab the pocketbook, but lurches to the closing door, which catches his arm. The driver pulls away, the thug trapped inside. The driver, while driving, gets out a bat and whacks the guy so much he is in childish tears. The driver catches the attention of motorcycle cops, who arrest the guy, and question the woman, who still has the pocketbook.
    ---
Can anyone identify the make or model of minibus? It has a single, slide-inwards front door.

I think this may be a match: the Maxibus Astor/Mercedes-Benz LO-914.

Thanks, R36! I think you found it! I like the clear boarding and exit arrows. Also, the license plate number is repeated on the side of the bus.I wonder whether two tall antennas are tipped forward, or maybe (?) they are height feelers. The Flickr collection is interesting.
