EPV wants the more lucrative commuter coach sales. It's to their benefit to support the ECOCoaches in NJT's fleet as best they can. If I was Tony Luo, I'd be scrambling for investor financing to take a shot at the 1400-unti diesel order. All EPV needs is enough money to build the first year's batch of 300 (about $165 million)... then they get paid and that money builds the next batch. Not saying it will happen, or that EPV is even on the qualified bidder list right now... but you only become a proven manufacturer by building, not sitting around with an empty factory. |

Usually. Also, many of the parts found on most buses are sourced from other companies, and after warranty and contract obligations, are often sourced from someone other than the "assembler" The degree to which parts have to be sole sourced is a major factor in determining true life cycle costs as opposed to acquisition costs. |

This should have resulted in serious questions when Foxx was having hearings for USDOT Transportation secretary...the company went bankrupt before Foxx was confirmed. |

It should have, but as long as Senate Dems are running things, I think most political observers would've predicted an easy confirmation for Foxx. |

I agree with you...The problem is that as long as the FTA has regulations that require "lowest responsive bidder" for all bus requisitions, then that gives the Feds the right to, for all intents and purposes, "pick and choose winners." That worked out well for other "favored" environmentally friendly businesses, now didn't it? |
