BrooklynBus said:"If the light just turned red, the other light wont turn green for at least a second or two, sometimes three seconds, so your chance of being broadsided by not slamming on the brake is much less than being rearended. " You responded: Wrong. People could jump the light or be approaching the red at a high rate of speed anticipating it to immediately turn green and then broadside you. So you were saying that BrooklynBus is wrong, and that the chance of being broadsided is not much less than the chance of being rear-ended. I'm asking if you have any stats or anything backing up that assertion. |

Simple, don't tailgate and be attentive while driving - - if you obey these two simple laws, you will never strike another vehicle from behind. |

I'd rather stop at a red light instead of trying to beat it. If the idiot hits me from behind as I am trying to apply the brakes, so be it. He would be automatically be 100 percent at fault because in most every auto insurance policy - - there are listed exceptions where no insurance points (major or minor) will be charged against you for being struck from behind and you were never issued a summons by the police in connection with the accident - - as long as you report it to the police and insurance carrier. It's hilarious that thousands of drivers don't read their insurance policies more carefully - - as evidenced by these idiots tailgating so close (less than a car length) on any street or highway. |

Most of those idiots are carrying the minimum level of insurance and $25,000 doesn't go very far when you get hurt. |
