Rest of Ex-QSC Orion V CNGs retired |

Posted by R46 5636 on Thu Feb 13 23:23:05 2014 As of today, 9905, the last in service Orion V CNG, made it's final run on the 6:42 Q66 out of Queensboro Plaza, and ended in Flushing around 7:30.The bus is currently sitting OOS in CP depot. |

There were several of them up @ Eastchester, not sure if they still are there or not. Would have been great if the first one with the luggage racks & reading lamps [ Ex- 4932] had been saved as a Museum Bus for Command. |

I know the person who first saw 9905 went into the depot yesterday. I know him so he could either be lying or this time, actually tell the truth. I have rode 9905 yesterday, and there was nothing wrong with the Bus, I don't know why it's OOS. Because I notice that the certain bus driver who gets these buses, he usually don't get them on Fridays. I will keep you guys updated. It's good to be back on Buschat, and I live on the Q66 route, so I usually catch these CNGs when I get home from school. I will also check the Eastchester Bus Depot this weekend. So stay tuned busfans.. |

I heard from two sources that they were all gone. It seems 9905 went back out after being declared OOS.It would seem logical that 9905 was being retired since it was taken OOS after 9899 was retired and hearing that 9905 was the last bus running. Also these buses were slated to retire at the end of January, another reason why I declared that. I am retracting my statement for now and also reasoning as to why I said it in the first place. It was wrong for me to assume, but it's not like these buses were still plentiful and not past retirement date. I'm actually happy that my statement was wrong. We get to enjoy these buses for a little longer! |

Another thing- 9849, 9889 and 9899 hadn't been seen for at least a week. The combination of not being seen and past their retirement date would make sense that they are retired. |

You truly will never know when the last one is really retired until it gets de-commissioned in Eastchester because they have to make service every day.So you may HEAR it's the last day for the last class of bus, but you can never say for sure. Look at 1306 at CS. NYCT and MTA bus truly doesn't know either. |
