Why doesn't the MTA add a tripper in the middle of that route to service those stops ?

It's the beginning of the route, the first mile and a halt, that's the problem. in most cases, you can fit everyone into the bus if the bus would only stop. Sometimes it is only three passengers that are bypassed. Certainly no more than 10. The MTA apparently feels the number is so small, that it doesn't matter how long they have to wait and since only a few are complaining, it is a minor problem. It boils down to the schedule being more important than the passenger. Adequate running times would solve the problem because the operator does not want to lose his layover time, so skipping stops for them is the answer. Years ago this never would happen. Drivers used to try to serve every passenger by asking everyone to move to the back of the bus. But back then, they gave change also.

Funny you said that, I was just telling people I was traveling with this. On an RTS, Orion V, etc. nobody moves past the back door. On a low floor, nobody goes up the steps or ramp, depending on manufacturer. There is the extra people left behind, I would say at least 5 should make it. Then again, there is the attitude, I'm on who cares about you.

There seems to be a fear of going south of the rear exit.

Heh, I was on a artic low floor yesterday. Plenty of seats not packed at all. Three dipshits get on and do not move more than 2 feet from the white line, go figure.

The problem exists with RTSs also but to a lesser extent.

I've seen some Queens bus drivers deliberately bypass certain specific passengers (e.g. "If I stop for her, she'll complain, loudly, about me and the other drivers and the schedule and the agency as a whole; all that complaining will distract me from driving safely, and then she'll complain that I'm not driving safely").

Maybe a similar phenomenon is happening in Brooklyn.

I've never heard that. You woud think she would have more to compain about if the driver does not stop.

Of course but the driver doesn't have to hear it :).

Always be pleasant to the driver. You never know when it'll be freezing cold, you're nowhere near the stop, but he lets you on anyway because he recognizes you (and it's a safe place to stop).
